- 36 red bands
- 72 orange bands
- 1 pen/pencil
Setting up your loom to make loom bands octopus!
Set up your loom in STAGGERED configuration. Before placing the band band 32, wrap two blue bands around yow hook four times. Then catch the red band on the end of your hook and slide the blue bands off the hook and onto the red band. Place between the pegs as normal, pushing the blue bands to either side of the loom for the eyes. Place band 33-45 six times to make six tentacles
Turn your loom so the arrow is facing towards you. You’re going to start by making the tentacles. to do this, pur your hook inside red band 45, catch the bottom pair of orange bands and loop them forward.
Hook and loop the next five pairs of orange bands forward.
Now, put your pen/pencil in the last pair of looped bands and slide them off the peg and onto your pen/pencil for storage.
Place bands 33-45 and repeat steps 1-3 a further five times, (making sure your loom arrow is facing the correct way each time) SO, you have a total of six tentacles on your pen/pencil.
You’re now ready to loop the body, Put you hook inside red band 30 (underneath the tentacles) PUSH it back, catch the pair of red bands below it and loop them diagonally to the left-hand side.
Put your hook inside the peg you just looped to, catch the bottom pair of bands and loop forward.
Continue hooking and looping the next three pairs of red bands forward, making sure you goinside the other bands on the peg and only catch the bottom pair of bands in your hook. The last pair will be looped diagonally to the central row.
Go back to red band 30 and repeat steps 6-8 on the right-hand side.
Once more, go back to red band 30, PUSH it back, catch the bottom pair of red bands and loop them forward.
Continue hooking and looping the remaining three pairs of red bands in the chain forward. Make sure you always go inside the other bands on the peg to only catch the bottom pair of bands each time.
Put your hook inside the peg you just looped to, catch the bottom red band and loop it forward, then pull the bottom of the band up through itself to create a slipknot.
Pull all your bands off the loom your octopus is finished!
