Setting up your loom to make loom bands captain badge!
Set up your loom in the SQUARED configuration, making sure the arrow is facing away from you, then place the bands in the order shown in the diagram.
Turn your loom so the arrow is facing towards you. You’re going to be hooking and looping the bands in reverse order to how they were placed, so, putting your hook inside blue band 46, push it back, catch the top blue band and loop them forward.
The chain now forks. Put your hook inside the peg you just looped to, catch the middle pair of blue bands and loop them forward, too.
Continue hooking and looping the next four pairs of blue bands forward, making sure you always catch only the bottom pair of bands from inside the other bands. Note that the last pair of bands will be hooked as normal, but looped diagonally to the central row.
Repeat steps 1-3 on the right-hand side, starting at blue band 33.
Now, go back to where the chain forked on the left-hand side, catch the bottom pair of bands and loop them diagonally to the central row.
Repeat step 5 on the right-hand side.
Go to blue band 16, put your hook inside, catch the bottom pair of blue bands and loop them forward.
Continue hooking and looping the next four pairs of blue bands forward, making sure you always catch only the bottom pair of bands from inside the other bands. Note that the last pair of bands will
be hooked as normal, but looped diagonally to the central row.
Now, put your hook in the peg you just looped to, catch the very bottom blue band and loop it forward. Catch the bottom end from the peg on your hook and pull it through itself to create a slipknot, before pulling all the bands off the loom.
Tuck the slipknot into the other bands, then, to finish, slide the badge pin through the back of the bands.
