How to make loom bands backpack

Stetting up your loom bands backpack!

Set up your loom in the SQUARED configuration. You’re  going m place band like this 110 times to make the backpack using the diagram shown on p130. However, band 48 will be placed 15 times, every time you start a new chain.

For loom bands backpack project you’ll need:

  • 2,780 yellow bands
  • 2,870 blue bands
  • 612 red bands

You’ll be making:

  1. 5 blue pieces of looming
    each 10 looms long
  2. 4 yellow pieces of looming
    each ten looms long
  3.  2 yellow pieces of looming
    each four looms long
  4. 2 red pieces of looming,
    each six looms long
  5. 2 red loom buttons

Step 1:

Turn your loom so the arrow is facing towards you. With this design, you’re going to be looping the bands in the reverse order to how they placed, ignoring the horizontal bands and starting with the first band on the left-hand side. Step 2:

Step 3:

Step 4:

Now you’ve reached the end of the loom, One by one put your and slide the bands off the peg onto the hook.bagpack abn 4 300x251 - How to make loom bands backpack

Step 5:

Step 6:

Place bands 1-47 again, and this time stretch the band off your hook and individually onto each of the last peg.bagpack abn 6 300x269 - How to make loom bands backpack

Step 7:

Repeat steps 1-6 until you’ve the specifications opposite. When finishing off a piece of looming,  take an extra band the same band ends to create a slipknot.bagpack abn 7 296x300 - How to make loom bands backpack

Step 8:

Your pieces should look like  this. Note that you should have five lengths like the blue’U’, and four lengths like the yellow’U’.bagpack abn 8 300x274 - How to make loom bands backpack

Step 9:

You’re now ready to join the nine long pieces together! it’s going to be stripy, so you’ll be joining them in a blue,yellow,blue,yellow pattern. So, take your first two pieces and put your hook through the horizontal bands ends poking out.bagpack abn 9 300x249 - How to make loom bands backpack

Step 10:

Pull a new band through them, before putting both ends of the band on your hook.bagpack abn 10 252x300 - How to make loom bands backpack

Step 11:

Keeping those on it, poke your hook through the next set of horizontal band and and pull anew band through them all before putting both ends of the new band on your hook.bagpack abn 111 300x265 - How to make loom bands backpack

Step 12:

Repeat steps 9-11 until all of them are joined together, finishing off the last band in each chain by making a slipknot.

Step 13:

Now fold in the loom fabric, so one side of it is four looms long.bagpack abn 13 290x300 - How to make loom bands backpack

Step 14:

Next, join in the shorter piece of yellow looming to form the left-hand back pack side using steps 9-12 to help.

Step 15:

Repeat step 14 on the right-hand side.

Step 16:

Use diagram 2 to make two loom buttons (hook and loop the bands in reverse order to how they were placed)

Step 17:

Your loom backpack is complete.
