Stetting up your loom bands backpack!
Set up your loom in the SQUARED configuration. You’re going m place band like this 110 times to make the backpack using the diagram shown on p130. However, band 48 will be placed 15 times, every time you start a new chain.
For loom bands backpack project you’ll need:
- 2,780 yellow bands
- 2,870 blue bands
- 612 red bands
You’ll be making:
- 5 blue pieces of looming
each 10 looms long
- 4 yellow pieces of looming
each ten looms long
- 2 yellow pieces of looming
each four looms long
- 2 red pieces of looming,
each six looms long
- 2 red loom buttons
Turn your loom so the arrow is facing towards you. With this design, you’re going to be looping the bands in the reverse order to how they placed, ignoring the horizontal bands and starting with the first band on the left-hand side. So, putting your hook inside this peg, catch the bottom band and loop it for ward.
You’re now ready to join the nine long pieces together! it’s going to be stripy, so you’ll be joining them in a blue, yellow, blue, yellow pattern. So, take your first two pieces and put your hook through the horizontal bands ends poking out.
Repeat steps 9-11 until all of them are joined together, finishing off the last band in each chain by making a slipknot.
Next, join in the shorter piece of yellow looming to form the left-hand back pack side using steps 9-12 to help.
Repeat step 14 on the right-hand side.
Use diagram 2 to make two loom buttons (hook and loop the bands in reverse order to how they were placed)
Your loom backpack is complete.
